The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is currently the second (2nd) largest Sheriff’s Office in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the largest full-service Sheriff’s Office in the state. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office employs 176 sworn deputies with 87 deputies assigned to the Patrol Division and Traffic Unit.

Of the remaining sworn personnel, they are assigned to Criminal Investigations, Court Services, or serves as a School Resource Officers. Boone County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to 115,514 calls for service in 2021. We are a state-accredited agency whose focus is based on; Service is our Duty.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is located in Northern Kentucky. We serve a broad and diverse population of 135,968 residents (2020 Census). Boone County borders Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana, along the Ohio River. Estimates put the daytime work and travel population at approximately 250,000 to 300,000 people on a given day. Boone County spans 256 square miles with critical points of infrastructure built throughout. Boone County has three (3) major interstates to include I-75, I-275, and I-71, two (2) federal highways to include U.S. 25 and U.S. 42, and additionally has 48 state highway/routes that serve as an artery to other states or counties.

The combined populations of the three Northern Kentucky Counties (Boone, Campbell, and Kenton) and Hamilton County, OH (Cincinnati) make up a populace of over one million people. Boone County is home to the Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), a major international airport that continues to expand. Boone County is considered a suburban region of Cincinnati since the northern portion is only about a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Cincinnati, as well as Covington and Newport on the Kentucky side of the river. Additionally, Boone County connects to Indiana by way of the Carroll Cropper Bridge, which spans over the Ohio River along the I-275 corridor.

Boone County is a short drive away from a variety of sporting and entertainment venues to include the Cincinnati Bengals (NFL), Cincinnati Reds (MLB), FCC Cincinnati (MLS), Heritage Bank Arena and the Riverbend Music Center. Also, not too far away are several well- known universities to include, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, and Northern Kentucky University.

Lastly, Boone County is also home to some of the most well-known companies in the world, which include Amazon, eBay, McLane Food Service, Toyota, Pepsi Co., DHL, UPS, and Fed Ex just to name a few. Due to everything that Boone County has to offer, we are home to one of the fastest-growing counties and economies in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
